Commissioning a portrait is an exciting process and does not have to take a lot of time on your part.  
I generally prefer to work from my own photographs, but with decades of time spent drawing and painting people 
from life, I am also able to work from yours.

 

Simply email me to discuss a commission or if you prefer to work from your own photographs, email photographs for me to review for translation to a custom portrait and I will respond promptly. (Please see link at bottom of this page and click.)

 

 

50% of fees are due at the time of the booking to be placed on my commissions list. Shipping, framing and extended travel expenses are not included. The remaining 50% is due prior to delivery/shipment.  

 

Portraits from Photos: from my photographs— I travel to my portrait subjects to take photographic references. Custom portraits from my images will allow for my composition and artistic style to be visible in the end product.  These are my higher-end paintings of whick I devote the most time and as a result my fees are higher. Fees are usually higher than for supplied photo commissions since the level of detail is higher, but each commission is unique and quotes are given.

 

After the photography session and consultation  I will utilize any sketches made and a few photographs taken to capture the subject. If the client is local the painting may be brought for viewing in the home/office where it will be hung or viewed in my studio. The final portrait will be shipped (upon approval) for other locations. 

 

Portraits from Photos: from your photographs—Please email me images at soniahale1@gmail.com. (see link at bottom of this page and please click) With my years of work from life, I am able to create life-like paintings from supplied photographs. The size of painting and the number of figures factor into the cost. If you are able to supply professional photographer's photographs that is very helpful. 

 

Landscape commissions— will be discussed with regard to location, availability of images and feasibility of travel to site
